Nakamba fights racism

Last week, Nakamba and Chiedozie Ogbene both players for Premiership newboys Luton Town FC visited Stopsley Community Primary School to speak to pupils who had been taking part in a workshop put on by the Luton Town Community Trust on the subject of racism.

This happened as Nakamba was also featured in an anti-racism poster by the Premier League, which has highlighted that it has participants from 65 nationalities across the world.

Nakamba’s teammate, striker Elijah Adebayo was subjected to abuse at the weekend after the game with Tottenham.

The club said Adebayo was “tired” of the abuse.

The club says it reported and assisted with yet another vile, cowardly act of online abuse from an account underneath an Instagram post against Adebayo.

Luton has stated that there have been “numerous times it has already happened to several of our players in the past 12 months”.

The fight against racism has been taken a notch higher since it is also Black History Month.

Towards the end of this October, the Luton Community Trust will bring together over 60 participants from their Premier League Kicks sessions to the North of Luton in Marsh Farm, to take part in a No Room for Racism community football tournament – an event which will be hosted in collaboration with Luton Youth Partnership Service and the TREE project as we foster awareness and solidarity.

Through No Room For Racism, the Premier League and its clubs work with fans and football stakeholders as well as the police to fight against discrimination on and off the pitch, promoting equality, diversity and inclusion across all areas of football.
